Renthal Road Wide Bars....
.....I wanted something black(yes looks matter) and with less sweep (more like my mountain bikes). Ordered a set of these to try......anyone got any experience of them?
If not I will inform as other than Sweep the dimensions look similar to the std. 821 bars. |

DukeDesmo has flat bars on his 900. Picture in post #13
http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...hlight=bar+end Not sure if that's similar to mountain bike ones you mention? I messed about with loads of different options on my S4 and ended up with clip-ons with risers which can be adjusted to give me any sort of height or angle that I desire, within reason of course.

And that's an S4 damper with some very bespoke fittings if I'm not mistaken? I just had to keep mine, hence the clip-ons as I found the standard damper fittings just wouldn't work with most types of bars or even some clip ons and the usual top yoke. Even the aftermarket S4 yoke set I have fitted I had to have the damper bottom bracket machined slightly so it would fit.

Probably, I can't remember what it was for exactly. I ended up buying a damper and a couple of mounting kits to use a combination of brackets plus a couple of parts that I made to get it all to fit.

Well it is a Monster after all! I recognise the carbon FG damper unit branded as Ducati Performance and the damper bracket, but nothing else. If it was all made to fit and it works, then it meets the all Monster requirements as far as I'm concerned. It looks cool and unique too!

I have a set of Renthal’s low rise bars on my 900. They are, as their name suggests slightly lower than the original bars which in turn put a little more weight over the front of the bike without affecting the comfort on my wrists.
I can do 400 mile days without an issue and still want to get on and ride it the day after. I too wanted to swap the look by fitting black bars and for me they’re great, I love them!

Cheers Flip, I think I am pretty sold on them before they have turned up. Black and Low?

I’ve just looked back through my receipts as it was a few years ago when I fitted them.
I bought the Ultra Low in their black 7010 T6 alloy. Width- 725mm Height- 75mm Rise- 50mm A different view:

From memory, the tube wall thickness is bigger, so you need to change the bar ends too, or get some mirrors that fit?

Yeah I guessed the bars on Matty J’s bike would be of the ‘fat’ variety but I was just posting up my old school 7/8” (22mm) size ‘Ultra Low’ Renthals as I would imagine the width, height and rise dimensions would be similar for that type too.

The Standard bars on mine are about 775mm wide with a c. 110mm sweep & 70mm rise.....just had an email saying 749 Renthals are not available due to no longer being manufactured.......so made a rash decision to go for these...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LSL-Stree...EAAOSwYUpeLy6x So I will feecback how they look. @ Flip - the Ultra lows arent as wide as the std's so decided against them, look ideal on your bike...my MTB bars are all 780 -800mm wide so should feel at home with the wide LSL's!!! |
