Headlight parking light - missing socket?

I've got this very nice Carbonvani headlight that I'm replacing a pair of ****ey streetfighter headlights with. However, it appears to have a hole that I assume is for the parking light, but no receptacle for the bulb - the parking bulb holders that were in the streetfighter headlights do not appear to fit.

I think the headlight assembly itself is just the usual bosch unit that comes on the bike stock, so can someone enlighten me as to what is missing?

IIRC there's usually a pressed copper plated spring clip that sits on the edge of the hole. It's a fairly 'bodgy' fit at the best of times.

Never seen anything attached to the blade connector on a Monster.

The bulb just pushes into the hole with the rubber bit holding it in iirc. Don't remember even seeing a blade connector on mine but its been a while since I had one apart. Will the fiches on Stein-Dinse website show this? It may be of some help.

With the Bosch units I've seen, the bulb sits in a steel holder, has only one wire to it, and relies on that tricky little bronze tag to provide an earth. If you have a rubber push-in socket that fits the hole securely and is double-wired, you wouldn't need the tag.

Where do you find the fiches on Stein-Dinse? I'm looking now but I'm a bit Stein-Dense, you see... EDIT: Found them.

That's what I was thinking - I'll measure it up, but it looks like that ebay one I've linked will fit the hole.

It just occurred to me as Clockie just mentioned that tag will probably be to earth.

A craft knife is your friend... Either that or a belt-sander and VERY careful handling!

Those rubber holders tend to have flat terminals within, while the metal ones are a bayonet fit. The bulbs are different, of course.

By the way, are you considering an LED H4 bulb? After much experimentation, I've found an affordable type that permits the vital rotation in its socket that gives a decent beam pattern. Most don't have that feature. The only drawback with the one I'm describing is that the socket doesn't have the D-shaped base that Bosch headlamps, in particular, need to seat it in the housing. Some housings don't require the flat on one side. I just cut the alloy base back... I'll sort out details if you are interested.

I found a ducati part for £5 so I'm going to install that.

Nah, no LED, going to try a Philips Night Vision Extreme (or whatever they're called).

I'm sure I'll eventually find myself wanting to switch to LED - probably after the Bosch unit gets replaced with a better 7" unit.
