clip on bars questions
evening folks, I have done a search and not come up with much
I'm wanting some clip on bars with 1.5 or 2 inch rise, but not wanting to pay the monies of the woodcraft ones from the US. have any of you gone with some chinese options and had good experience? I also was thinking, do the 620/750 supersport top triple and bars fit on the monster forks? (mine's a 620, 2004 monster) and one final question, the top clamp is an awkward level from the top of the fork, I know it effects the steering, but will it make a huge difference to the ride to either move the triple to the top of the fork to mount the clip ons underneath but higher than they'd otherwise be. or to move the triple down slightly to fit clip ons above the triple... how much clearance would I need to create? |

Had no problems with the Chinese ones on other bikes, seem pretty good.

The steel handle bars from an early Supersport will fit if you can find any, as for the top yoke you will need to know the distance between the centre of the centre stem nut and the centre line of the fork legs, if they are the same then they should fit, if not the forks legs will be either pushed out further or drawn in and of course the clamping will be compromised because the legs will not be parallel with the holes bored in the top yoke.
You will not get away with lowering or raising the legs within the yokes as this affects the geometry of the front fork (and the stance of the bike). My M900 definitely handled more sharply with the fork legs pushed through the yokes by 10mm. More than that would probably cause the bike to become unstable and you could end up with front mudguard clearance issues on the oil cooler/ bottom yoke |

I went for the Woodcraft ones after looking at all the other options. I can't remember if they had 1.5 or 2.0 inch rise but they fit perfect under the top triple. They're expensive but worth the money. I paid around £130 iirc a few years ago. I sure wouldn't drop the forks and fit them on top for the reasons others have said.

Hi, SS triple clamps/yolks have a 30mm offset compared to Monsters' 25mm, so alter basic geometry and need to be replaced in matched pairs (top & bottom). As already mentioned SS clip-ons will fit, in fact I have a spare pair (in need of repainting) which have been altered to step out sufficiently to clear monster top yolk (fork clamp screws in particular) when positioned at the top, which tends to be required due to the step in the fork legs. Hope this makes sense & is useful, Bitza.

Also check out some fitments for R1 and gsxr as they were the same size as monsters and tended to be more commonly available and sometimes cheaper because of that.
Can’t remember which specific models of each but it widens the search terms and might throw up some more options
