Looking for a monster

Hi, my names mike, im 23. Im mostly into cars but i've always had an interest in getting a bike to ride and mess around with.

I really liked the look of the monster and it's what ive got my mind set on now.I have mostly been looking at 600s.

Im basically after something that might need a little work to a full rebuild, as i'd like to learn about rebuilding one. I haven't taken my test yet so im not in a rush for it to be finished.

What i wanted to know though is would a 600 bike be suitable for someone who is a new rider? Also, is there an advantage to the new injection bikes over an older bike? I would only be riding it during the warmer months to work and at weekends.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Hi, and welcome.

A 600 is a great bike for a first bike, I should know as I had a 2000 plate M600 after passing my test! They are relatively easy to work on, although I only did a bit of servicing, nothing more involved.

The carbed bikes can suffer from carb icing in winter, which means they do not always run well, although there are ways around this such as fuel additives. An injection bike would suffer less I believe.

Ebay often has good project potential, but take your time, read up and ask questions on here, and you will be able to pick out something decent.
