Top job once again Tony, can I ask a favour, never post a picture of your kitchen !!!!...... I bet it's fitted by you, mint condition and will instantly make it top of the "to do" list at our place!

Don't start me on kitchens... I did fit it 10 years ago, and to my eyes its still good... but there are rumblings

I have a few points in the bag though... recently re-furbished an old writing box she was given into a Jewelry box... its big for a jewelry box.... stupid stupid mistake...

I didn't realise that there was such a thing, what do you use?

edit - and having done a bit of 'googling' it doesn't seem that difficult (as these things never do !!)

Having had a look, I can get some film and activator for about £10, the rest of stuff in the kits seems to be generic bits (gloves, primer and the like) that I've got most of that in the garage already.

Thanks to this thread, I will be having a go..! Cheers Buzzer

Doesn't it need to be the special hydro-dipping primer though?

yes, the film and activator is cheap! I buy from Hydromonkeys...

I just use silver rattle can under the film... tried some gold a few months ago, it looked fantastic under the carbon film.

good tip is if you make a mistake, you can use panel wipe (sold by car paint suppliers - its cheap )to remove the film without affecting the base coat.

you can use single pack acrylic rattle can lacquer over the top, but to make it really durable, 2k is FAR better. (you can get that in rattle cans now too!)

Ikea boxes work well as a tank

here is a short video of me doing a cover

been painting the tank and seat today... one of the tips I picked up many years ago is that when spraying small items, use a torch in your other hand and shine it from below... you can see where you are wetting out the paint... I love the way 2K lacquer glosses from the gun these days!

I thought it looks a lot like the Pantone Colour of the Year 2012, Tangerine Tango.

‘A spirited reddish orange that provides the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward. Sophisticated, but at the same time seductive, Pantone 17-1463 is an orange with a lot of depth. Reminiscent of the radiance of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness of red with the friendliness of yellow, to form a magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.

Energise interior spaces with Tangerine Tango home accessories and this high-impact hue will add spice to any room. The use of Pantone Tangerine Tango can be an inexpensive way to perk up your home, whilst painting a wall with the shade can offer a dynamic burst of energy in the kitchen, entryway or hall.’

started work on the seat base. I have cut it to shape and added the Rivinuts to hold it on. I have used aluminum ones as these are much easier to pull in with a nut and bolt if you don’t have the special tool to draw them in…

Also a picture of how its looking... I know this will finish well before Spring next years so I have bought another project to see me through the dark months of winter... watch this space!

Still in the middle of a build of a multistrada special when a bike i have always wanted came up at a bargain price… an early Ducati Monster. With the prospect of limited going out and no holidays due to Corvid, and the fact the current build will be finished before winter, I decided to buy it! here it is… It's a bit tatty, but it runs well and sounds sweet. Ripe for restoration its going to the back of the garage for a while… this will be a straight restoration though, probably red as I like red monsters!
