You actually don't have to put in a worm gear for them, they run off the CDI's electronically...you just unplug a couple of the plugs, plug them into the tacho harness and plug the harness into the CDI's. |

Did anything change in ‘98 to need the extra oil depth, or is it just to be on the safe side?

I was wondering the same thing actually. I don't think the changed the crankcases.
