Emptying the petrol tank

Ok, I'm sure I might have asked this before but I cant find the thread.
Whats the best way to empty the tank, I have done this several times before but usually the tank is off the bike, this time I'm asking before I disconnect it.
I intend to empty both the monster tank and the sportclassic one, possibly using the internal fuel pumps but I cant recall how this was done.
I plan to dry out my S2R original tank and have a tatty spare one to install in the meantime, I've already replaced the sportclassics tank and dont want that to suffer the same fate as the original (that one should be nearing its original size by now I would think,must go check)

Very inconveniently my garage door mechanism has broken so it wont be happening until I fix that first.

Some tanks have a drain plug, my 916 does.

My Monster tank doesn't (although the, near identical, tank I originally bought did?) and it is quite tricky to completely empty as running the pump doesn't get all the fuel out and due to the filler cap design, neither does turning it upside down.

Removing the fuel line from the return line should do the job then leave it open to evaporate anything that's left.

I drained my Evo last week with a simple meter of fuel pipe syphoned onto a fuel can. I got nearly all out as it only took a couple of minutes running to empty the tank completely
