Bought one of the polishing kits from these people
http://www.metalpolishingsupplies.co.uk/
It includes all the different compound bars for different metals, plus some scotchbright wheels, for removing the worse rust and old paint & a Mandrel for attaching to an electric drill which is clamped into a vice
The exhaust took around 3 hours, but could still do with some more work

With no money in the pot, this is as good as the mongrel will get (for now)
Started out like this

After many hours of polishing and adding parts I had in stock from the S2R

Some of the Jobs done
Jacked up the Rear by 30mm
Polished End cans
Polished chain adjuster end caps
Polished Front fork lowers
fitted Carbon Fibre front mudguard
Sprayed and fitted Belly pan
Sprayed Rear wheel hugger
Sprayed Frame tail black
Remove Fairing
Swapped mirrors for ones fitted to my S2R
Silver painted (tarted up) Engine
Removed Pillion footpegs
New Tank protector pad
Most important of all
installed "Fatal Hudson" sticker on tail piece

Is that the winning entrant in this years 'biggest side stand puck' contest I see there?

It's looking good. You could have polished the hugger bolts and rose joints though

I was going to spray part of the tank black, but only because it has some bad scratches
