Best price / quality Cam Belts
Anyone bought new belts lately for an air cooled bike? Who is the best price supplier with great quality?
I have been quoted 76.00 inc VAT but don't mind paying less!

I've used std belts from Moto Rapido for the last 3 or 4 changes.
Largely because of the 10% club discount and the fact that, being a larger dealer they're unlikely to be selling older belts that have been on the shelf for ages. The Exactfit belts that Darren refers to would be my alternative option. |

Ordered belts from Exactfit on Monday and already dispatched. I am doing my two valve S2 first as I expect it too be easier than my dohc Monster S4r. I am hoping that it will be quite straight-forward. U-Tube has got loads of stuff on it.

Cam Belts
The cam belt thing is weird in that I've worked on bikes - including my Ducatis for years. I bought my S4r new (as i did a couple of S4 monsters before). Buying new got me out of the habit of doing my own servicing and then I got a bit scared becuase I thought that I needed expensive special tools to do a lot of the work. Cam belt pensioning being one problem.
Now, after extensive research (mostly on YouTube!), I find that you can be quite relaxed about belt tension. It''s just common sense! I know that CycleWorks have an option to use a guitar tuner which I have but even that may be unnecessary. |
