If it’s an ally one it fits fine, but leave off the rubber gasket that goes with the steel cover.

Darkness is spot on. The actual crankcases/clutch housings are effectively the same so the clutch covers themselves are interchangeable. The later steel covers transmitted more noise due to resonance, so the thick rubber gasket was fitted to damp down the "ringing".
