Thanks Albie

I have stock of the Button head screws I make the Instrument screws from, which are M8 x 50, so I'll have a play on the lathe this weekend to see what I can come up with.

As you've suggested it's all about holding them and getting the thread on straight.
The images I've seen show them threaded all the way up to the head, is that what you've seen in reality?

Thanks

Nasher.

Yes pretty much all the way there's not much distance between the head then thin nylon washer , thickness of teatray then the frame plate and mudguard. Probably get away with 3mm possibly more

But

All have a 14mm diameter head – Can somebody measure this please.

The above suggests a standard sized M6 Dome head screw but with an M8 sized head.

The images I’ve found of the latest part numbers actually show a standard sized M6 x 25(or 30)mm Dome head screw without the larger head.
This could be because the part has been replaced with a standard sized screw to make life easier for Ducati.

Unfortunately buying in std M8 screws, and turning them down, and rethreading them to M6 would be laborious with my lathe, so I’ll need to ask somebody I know with a CNC lathe to quote for a batch of say 50pcs.

Nasher.
This is what my '94 M900 had holding the tea tray in place: all the same 20mm length as there were no side pieces fitted to the "fender"?

Thanks Darkness.

That's interesting that they are all 20mm with a plain section at the top.

I'm going to have a play at the weekend on my lathe and will post the results.

Apologies guys, I'm having a bit of trouble standing still at the lathe for even short periods of time at the moment - it's a long story - so haven't got any further than turning down the Stainless Teatray bolts to a plain 6mm.

I just need to put the M6 thread on them, and will hopefully get some prototypes knocked up soon.

I do have a couple of sets of the Stainless Instrument cluster bolts already knocked up ready to send out if anyone needs them. I made them a few weeks ago for a couple of people who asked for them but have never paid me and have also not replied to PMs.

When you get the bolts ready I'll have 4 for my carbon fibre tray

Anything else you make in SS for the 900 I'll probably be interested in as well

Apologies, I’ve not had any opportunity to develop the tray screws, but winter is here and there will be times when an hour or two in the garage with the heater on will be preferable to being outside.

Thought I’d give the other parts a bump up the list for those that haven't seen them.

Did you ever get the warning light covers made?
I am still interested in one as mine has small gouges out of it and looks a mess.

I did actually, and I apologise for forgetting you wanted one.

I've been advertising them on the 'other' UK Ducati forum and on EBAY, but will create a thread on here shortly in case anyone else wants one.

The LED tacho unfortunately didn't stay on the bike very long.
I got it calibrated quite well in the end, was very pleased with myself, then found that despite taking the power feed to it directly from the battery it was very sensitive to the battery voltage.
The revs shown dropped by @30% when I turned the headlight on, then dropped to almost nothing with High beam.
I'm working on something different at the moment.

It might work better if you use an LM2596 based buck step down on the power in and feed it a stable 9 - 10 volts. If you add the right unit you'll also get an LED voltage meter optionally giving you in or out volts. Very simple circuit, just a few variable resistors, two caps and an LM2596. A 'C' might be better to use but the vanilla IC would manage it fine.

Thanks for the advise Nickj.

I took it off in the end, and have actually got the Revlight on ebay at the moment.

Just a cheeky little new year, post Xmas, bump for these.

Although unfortunately I can’t accept payment using the W.H.Smiths vouchers that Aunt Fanny sent your kids for Xmas and you had to purchase from them for cash.
