HI from a newbie

just thought i would say hi.

so interesting stuff on here spent a long time reading though yesterday.

im just doing my bike test was origionally looking for a kawazaki z1000, but fell in love with a 2000/w monster 900 dark its already got carbon termi's and its wonderfull just starting it in the garage and reving makes me want to just take my test tommorrow.

so am i going to regret not going jap ???? only time will tell but fingers crossed

anything i should pay special attention to or check to save any problems later on

Hi-ho neighbour,

Get the cam-belts changed now if the bikes been stood for more than a few months or you aren't sure they've been done in the last 12K miles/2 years. If in doubt, better safe than sorry.
Check out Rosso Corse @Bow or Tec-Moto @Harold Hill if you're not up to the job yourself.

are tec-moto good as thats about 5 min drive from me.

the bike has done 3500 miles so will it be a while before belts etc

Tec-Moto are top notch.
The belts have a 2 year life regardless of mileage. Also are prone to 'set' ie will take on the shape of the pulleys if the bike is not run regularly. If I thought the bike has been stood for 6 months, I'd get 'em changed to be on the safe side... still cheaper than a new top-end if one snaps.

Hiya,

I've owned my bike a couple of years now and if I said it's been trouble free I would be lying. I've had a couple of problems (nothing major) and have a little niggle that I'm trying to sort at the moment which is only dragging on due to work commitments.

Have I regretted not going Jap.................not at all. The Jap bike in my garage aint been out in a couple of years.

I doubt you'll regret a thing. All I can do is back up what has been said.......GET THE BELTS CHANGED

Very nice. How about clear minicators? And stick a pair on the rear too.

welcome and good choise of bike,can't beat the sound of those pipes!
just keep on top of those belts and you won't go wrong,good luck with your test!
