I have a bit of a gap before I start the Guzzi in earnest, so I am doing some small jobs, the first of which was to make some Bell Mouths out of thin wall Aluminium tube by the old method of spinning... you have to anneal the tube first by heating it and letting it cool. A good tip, is mark the alloy with a sharpie pen and the heat it until the marks disappear that's the right temperature for annealing!

A couple of things were bugging me about this build… one was the inlet manifold where I had used the original rubber manifolds, they looked out of place, and gave to much movement on the carbs. I decided to re-make the manifolds. they are a bit difficult as the carbs are bigger than the port, so I had to expand some alloy tube a bit with a tapered mandrel.

The other thing was the foam filters… I really wanted bell mouths, but as the carbs were forward facing it was to risky to have big open, sucking carbs… So I decided to make some bell mouths with mesh… they came out well! I have also tidied up the under seat area.

Finally, I set the timing accurately it was out by 2 degrees cylinder to cylinder, probably do to me getting the positioning of the hall sensors slightly out. Its easy to correct for that in the ignitech software though.

A couple more videos... she says it sounds like a bag of spanners with the clutch out!

Question for you guys... My Ducati builds have come to an end for now as I have gone to the dark side and bought a Guzzi, which I will be doing a custom build on.

The question is, do I continue to post in this thread the progress on the Guzzi, or say goodbye until the next Ducati? happy to do either...

I have to say I find some of the Guzzi guys a bit "strange" !!!

Absolutely keep posting here about the Guzzi.
I find the NOC even more than strange, in fact they are mostly infuriating. Hence why I ask questions here and get better and quicker answers about the Norton.
I'll be updating the build thread of that on here, as far more UKMOC members have shown interest than NOC people (2 of them have been quite helpful but were mates before I got the Norton anyway.)

I always thought they were too heavy. too slow and too odd when I was younger and all about going fast but I've slowed a lot since then and want different things from my rides out so I bought a new V7iii last February and I love the little thing. I might post up a little year in the life review if no one objects.

Definitely keep posting please and I agree with you about the Guzzi forums- I've actually found it difficult to find a UK one that's active, they mostly seem Stateside.
