Cool

Got a message today from Mark at http://www.madasl.co.uk/ today and the primary gears have been lightened.

I will post some pictures when I get them.

Exiting bit of cross pollenation going on there Yorkie.

'Scuse my ignorance, but what is that sock thingy on your rear spring? Something to keep it clean if you don't use a hugger? Or do you just like it to be nice and warm?..

Cool

It's a neoprene skidoo spring cover for all year round riding.

With two projects running side by side I just don't know which one will be finished first!!

Cool

Did some prep for the ST2 engine this weekend.

Collected some more lightened bits:

The crank is now built up for balancing this week, so hopefully a little more weight off.

The damage to the engine case needed to be dressed after a bit of damage.

Once it is welded this week, the engine will be bolted together and have all the surfaces completely blasted and then lacquered.

Don't wish to teach you how to suck eggs, but keep and eye on the cases to make sure it doesn't warp with the heat from welding, cos that looks like a big lump to stick back on.

Loving the write up BTW

Got the bits back the other day so here goes.

Balanced crank, with some more weight trimmed off:

The engine case ready for rubbing down and shaping:

The engine will be now clamped together for a strip down (bead blast).

Kato,

You are very kind, this is a tractor build compared to the things you produce. Trying to do two projects at once is a nightmare keeping track of the costs.

The ST2 frame project I am capping at £1500, I haven't set a limit for the Monster yet.

Cool

The cam wheels have been done and anodised, I will post a picture tomorrow.

I also picked up this:

£30 delivered for a second hand alloy clutch basket, what a deal. This will match my alloy clutch plates just right.

The ST2 engine has now been dry assembled ready for blasting this week hopefully, then it will be back together.

I will hopefully have one of these projects done for the summer.

Cool

6 weeks and i haven't done anything apart from MOT the SS.

So off to MADASL today to do some cleaning and preparation on the ST2 engine:

Soda blasted:

Stripped down for a water wash, brake cleaner wash and then a kero bath to clean it up:

Back together after the clean, next it will be off to the sprayers for some etch primer and then clear lacquer:
