M980 1987 StreetFighters Performance Special - Restoration

The first stage of the restoration is well underway with the great help of Ducati John in Leeds 07746 175112.

I have attached a few pictures to show progress – She should be ready for May 2011 and I will run her during the summer before a full strip down over with winter 2011/12.

Main areas done to date:

Full engine service and major parts check (all ok – few!)
New bearings, springs, bolts, lines……
New clutch slave JHP
New controls (from 996)
New headlight (removed the old mini twin plastic carbon light)
Wheels re-aligned
Callipers re-aligned (un-even wear across the 6 pads)
New seals and gaskets
Re-paint of key engine parts
Re-paint of hangers and hoop
Restoration custom pain work on the tank, seat cover and mudguard (thanks to Martin in Thirsk North Yorkshire 01845 587111)

Left to do:

Work out what to do with the exhaust (will cut down the current one until I can find someone to build me a full new system with a short GP style end can)
New rubber
Get the Nitrous system up and running (it was working ok before strip down so should be ok)

Regards,

Smiler

Moving the end can

Cutting our the drainpipe highlevel pipework and moving the end can down to show off the rear - looking sweet

+1 That, Love the swingarm, eccentric adjusters are great (so are eccentric owners!). Where is the nitrous hiding? It must be like a rocketshp? Great bike - top class attention to detail - respect!

Maybe?

Mind you it is a 250 mile hike from North Yorkshire down to Stratford
