Capo's Funeral.
A card of condolence, on behalf of the club, was dropped through Capo's letter box on Sunday.
On the card, we asked if we are able to attend the funeral in some form. Paul, Capo's brother, contacted me this evening. Once the details are confirmed, Paul will inform me how we can attend as he knows Capo would have loved it. Paul has been in the forum and has been touched by the comments and high regard we have for Capo.

Well done Grumpy, thanks.
A motorcade would be the least we could do.

Utopia was contacted tonight by Capo's daughter, October, with the details of Capo's funeral.
Capo is being cremated on Wednesday the 29th @ 1.30pm at the Fenland Crematorium, March. Cambridgeshire. Due to the limited number of people allowed to gather for funerals, because of Covid, we are asking for 6 of us from the club to be able to attend the service, including myself. The plan is to meet in advance and hopefully join the courtage from the funeral directors to the crematorium. For the courtage we can have as many bikes as we like, Please add your name to the list if you would like to attend the service. Grumpy. Stuart 42 Let's give Capo a cracking send off. Add your name here if you would like to be part of the courtage to the crematorium. Grumpy Stuart 42.

Just for the record, I'll be there but there are still six additional spaces available in total, ie seven overall.

I'd just like to add my condolences to the family & friends of Capo. I never had the opportunity to meet him, but have learnt a great deal from his posts. Unfortunately I am unable to attend the funeral as I have just started back at work having been furloughed for the last 4 months.
Hope there is a good turn out Dave |

Hi Everyone, this is Stewart's daughter - October. I thought I'd join the forum to tell you all how much I've loved reading your stories of my Dad and sharing your photos of him. As you can imagine it's been a pretty tough couple of weeks, but with the funeral a few days away I just wanted to touch base and get the final attendance numbers. Obviously you are all more than welcome to meet at mine and escort my dad to the crematorium, but as mentioned previously we're limited on the numbers that can go inside.
I've arranged for him to be taken on a Triumph Bonneville (they didn't have a monster). For those that don't know, my Dad owned a Bonnevillle, along with a trident and a BSA goldstar when I was growing up. At the age of 6 I started riding pillion with him and the Bonny was always my favourite, so hopefully Dad would have loved this. Because of covid restrictions we can't have a wake either, so I was thinking that maybe, if you guys are up for it, you could help me say a final goodbye when it's time to scatter his ashes. I'd love it if we could get as many monsters as possible to take him for his last ride along the Norfolk coast road, finishing at Cromer where we'll scatter his ashes out to sea. When I picked him up from Hospital in May, he said that when we are allowed, that he wanted to go to Cromer and have fish and chips on the pier. I don't have any dates in mind as I wanted to speak you guys first, once his ashes are back, I'll start a new thread and we can go from there. Also, I just want to let you all know my plans for his Monster. Firstly, Hell would freeze over before I'd sell it! This bike is as precious to me as it was to him. It's his legacy. So to honour him, I'm going to try and get the bike on show for all to enjoy. Jeff has mentioned some ideas which I'll set to work on in the coming weeks, but if anyone else on here as any ideas please feel free to get in touch. Finally, I'd like to thank you all for being his friend, I know how difficult he could be - especially if you'd woken him up! lol BUT we was also incredibly kind and generous with a sick sense of humour. He was the most intelligent man I've met and was a truly great Dad. I really miss him! I may not be in fit state to talk to anyone on Wednesday so please don't think me rude if I'm unable to hold a conversation, but please know I'm so very grateful to those of you that come. I'll be in touch soon to talk about 'Capo's Last Ride' Warmest wishes October x |

I'm very sorry I can't join you, I'm still not fit enough to ride following my accident last year.

Bless you all who attend. I will be thinking of Capo and you all.

Arrangements for the day ... wed 29th july.
The service will take place at 1.30pm at the Fenland Crematorium, March, Cambs, PE15 0YJ. The cortege will travel to there from Capo's daughter's house at PE13 1LJ, departing at 12.45pm. It has been suggested that we congregate beforehand at the Shell petrol station at Guyhirn,PE13 4AA, which is at the roundabout junction between the A47 and the A141. There is an adjacent coffee shop and a large, roadside carpark. I think they hold bike meets there so its a bike friendly location. I'm going to suggest that we meet there no later than 12 midday and leave there no later than 12.15pm From there it is a 7 mile run to Capo's daughter's house which should take no more than 15 mins so we should arrive there by 12.30 in time for a departure with the cortege at 12.45. Obviously if we're all at Guyhirn in plenty of time we could leave a little earlier but these are the latest times we should aim for. So, to sum up, meet at Guyhirn petrol station, PE13 4AA, no later than 12.00 midday. I won't be on the monster, I'm afraid. Its battery is totally fubar and the replacement was ordered in good time but delivery has been delayed and is now scheduled for friday. If the weather is decent, which I think it will be, I'll come on my scruffy, custom Dommie thumper. If not I'll have to take the car. |
