Ducati Monster owner at last!!
Hello everyone,
After a very long wait I now the proud owner of a 06 plate 620ie in red. She is stunning. Im realy new to the dukes and I'm extremely gratefull with all the information shared on ukmonster. I have been looking to buy a Monster for quite some time and she is finally here! Riding a v-twin is also new to me. I have been away from Motorbikes for over 9 years coming from an off road background. This is like being back to square one. However I have no complaints, she performs wonderfull and she makes feel very at ease. I'm totally addicted to the sound even with the original cans on. Can wait to put something a bit louder. I'm no sure about the flyscreen, I'm a big fan of the naked bike/ retro look. From reading various posts I understand that even thoought is a little screen it does provide some wind protection. Some say that the flyscreen deflects the wind to the riders helmet. Can anyone advise me of things I should being looking for on the Monster such as maintenance and servicing.? I'm hoping to use it on a regular basis and put some nice miles on it. How often should I clean and lube the chain. Which products are ducati friendly? Any other advice will be extremely appreciated. Many thanks, Pedro (Scotland) |

Hi Pedro, and welcome.
You've picked a good time of year to get to know your new bike. Quote:
Some prefer with, others without: it depends on what speed and length of ride you mostly do, and how you want YOUR Monster to look. To get an opinion [Probably several contradictory ones on this forum] we crave photo's

Hi Pedro and welcome to the club.
Nothing different on the 620 to any other bike as far as owner maintenance. Keep iot clean, lube the chain regularly, and get something to neutralize the road salt in the winter and it'll help protect it anyway, something like ACU, F365, WD40 even. Has the bike got a regular service history and well maintained ? It's pretty important especially with the drive belts being changed regardless of miles.

Hi all you new Monster Owners.
I am pretty new to the Monster scene as well however have had Ducati's for 14 years. Must say though I am enjoying the Monster 900 Carb'd version on a 99 plate that I am riding now. Nice to meet you all. |
