Help needed (question for 1200/821 owners)

My M1200s has had what I think is a problem with the fuel gauge from new but Ducati seems to think it's okay. So can I ask any M1200 owners (probably apply to 821's as well) to do a little experiment for me.
Can you full your tank and ride the bike as normal and when you get 1 bar of fuel used (about 50 miles) can you refill and see if the gauge resets to full, then can you do it again when the gauge drops to 2 bars used.

I don't use the dash setup on my 12r which includes the fuel gauge, so unable to help.
Also the ecu has been rexxered, which would make the comparison meaningless.

Stinger has a 12s, however, he's away on holiday at the moment.

Anyone else able to help out ?

Mine is really erratic (standard 1200) if I refuel at less than perhaps 60 miles or so. It really doesn’t like it. I just try not to refuel early. If I have to, I go by the trip meter until I refuel the next time. I’ve never bothered to discuss it with the dealer - the 821 I had previously was much the same. My other half has a Triumph Speed Triple and says that it’s much the same. Character eh!

Thanks Jet, that's helpful. I have raised the problem with Ducati who tell me that's how it's supposed to work and I'm an idiot for not knowing how a fuel gauge works.

I suppose it’s slightly more useful than the reserve petrol taps we use to have. I well remember my other half having a new Yamaha with a split in the main fuel tap pipe below reserve level. He only realised when he ran out of fuel, switched to reserve, and there was no more to give. It was a reasonable push, but thankfully mostly down a slight hill!
