M900 1993 replacement Oil cooler pipes

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding the replacement of the oil pipes that go to the cooler. Has anyone replaced these and if so with what, do I go OEM or some other aftermarket solution?

Cheers,

Murray

I used these guys for pipes and fittings https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/torquesuk

4x AN -6 to M14x1.5 adaptors (two on the engine, two on the cooler)
4x AN -6 STRAIGHT Swivel Seal Hose Fitting
and 1m of AN -6 (8mm) 5/16" Braided Fuel Hose 1 m

(that was on 03 M1000 with low mounted 1098 oil cooler, so might not be the same as yours)

Cheers Slob, would you know what size the pipe and fitting are?

Maybe you already plan to Murray but, worth re-routing the lower one away from the timing belt cover when you're at it. Getting the cover off behind it is the hardest part of doing the belts.
I seem to remember someone saying that the standard one of another model might be long enough to route under, possibly the Hypermotard??

manwithredbike, your right to say that the Hypermotard will work moving the pipe away from the timing cover.

You might want to double the hose and use 90deg instead of straight fittings on the engine if you do the alternate hose routing/hypermotard style thing.

I think I was adding the sizes while you were asking.

There's a thread all about the hypermotard oil line conversion here. http://www.ukmonster.co.uk/monster/s...ad.php?t=50829

Go to post #25 for info on the nipples. If you have an early Monster you could well have to change the nipples in the engine and oil cooler to make the hyper lines fit as the early and late types have different fittings on the ends of the lines which do not interchange. The nipples however are a very simple swap and not too dear either.
