Get a decent set of hex keys. The Wera Hex-Plus are designed to exert more torque and won't chew the sockets.

Also have a look on youtube for reviews of them.

I have those exact ones, very good. Also look at hex sockets, I believe they are made to tighter tolerances than standard allen keys.

How long have you had them?

Take a good look at the heads on the more frequently used sizes; they do round off with use, which makes head damage easier.

I recently replaced my M5 and M6 Allen sockets because of this.

They look fine. Maybe I need to apply more vertical pressure when I use them

Hi Davkyt,
There's quite a difference between Halfords and the Wera Hex-Plus, especially if the Halfords are worn.

A worn or ill fitting tool will chew up any fastener. These Hex-Plus keys are designed to apply the force over a wider area and are made to an extremely high standard, they have patented the design.

" The Hex-Plus profile offers a greater contact surface in the head of the screw. The notching effect is therefore reduced to a minimum and damage to the screw head more or less eliminated. "

If you are continually chewing fasteners I'd get rid of the tool you are using.
