Hi, not quite what you asked about but maybe it's a possibility?! I have a 1994 M900, which I've fitted with a 900ie engine, rebuilt by Baines Racing about 5K miles ago, bored out to 944cc, with Pistal high comp pistons, lightened flywheel, heads cleaned up & cams retimed, dyno'd as putting out 86bhp & 66ft/lbs, i.e. loads of fun, on the down side it is a bit shabby to look at. Anyway I now have an 1100 engine to replace it, so will be looking to sell on the 944 engine, and will also have available the wiring loom, injectors, air box, ecu, and the instruments. Does this sound interesting? I live in North Wales and you could come and have a go on the bike before it's dismantled. Bitza.

Great offer from Bitza, but if you dont fancy that, Its a very easy job to convert an IE motor to carb, change the flywheel & pickups, and bolt on some carbs,

Now that there are 1100 motors out there second hand 900's are quite cheap

What sort of price were you after for this?

Hi Superdunc, As it appears that you have a M900ie I'm guessing that you are only interested in the engine lump. The ebay lead Kato gives is of course a bit miss leading because of the parts which are missing, (clutch, c/cover, the clutch slave cylinder ect.) whereas I'm offering the engine/gearbox lump complete. I hadn't really thought about a price but I guess 1,200 pounds. If you need any of the other parts let me know, I haven't actually decided yet when to start taking the bike apart but it will be before Christmas. Bitza

I’m confused. Is that a 944 engine with carbs or injection?

Will the 600, 750 flywheel work as well as the 900

I know of an ie engine fitted with carbs and running on the standard ie ignition pickups by using a programmable Ignitech ignition module.

On that ebay motor..
The seller says " this engine will not fit a 996 because of the swing arm mount" and "ENGINE CAME FROM A 2003 900 MONSTER WITCH USED A 4 VALVE HEAD"

So that'll be a special (??) using 4 valve head barrels and Oh the whole motor... but not an S4, must be a magic home mod (you can tell cos a 'witch' had a hand in it

Wasn’t the S4 available from Ducati in 2003; 900cc ish, with four valve heads and double sided swing arm?

900 is a desmo due..
S4 is a desmo quattro...
Both are monsters
But a 900 isn't an S4 or viceversa

Semantics are important
