Second hand but at that cost and condition I just couldn't resist - even factoring in VAT, it'll work out to be about half the price of a new set.

Still a big hole in the wallet, so I'll call this my xmas present

I'll need to remove the carb heater circuit, so I'm just going to replace the whole oil cooler system with one from a 749/999 - just looking for a good deal on a cooler and the valve cover with a mount.

I hope for your sake HM Customs does not become part of the transaction, in my experience their involvement is entirely random but expensive when they determine they are involved.

I'm expecting to have to pay VAT and a small import duty. It isn't the first time I've brought something in from outside the EU so I've got a good idea of what to expect.

Regarding your oil cooler and lines; why don't you just keep your cooler and fit Hypermotard lines which will both tuck under the engine and up the nearside, to leave your timing side nice and clear?

Which ever way you go, you will need to change the nipples into the engine (and cooler if you keep the original cooler), as the fittings changed somewhere around 2002 to a straight spigot type with two O-rings. Yours will be an an-8 type (I think?)

Is your oil cooler not currently mounted on rocker cover mounts? I thought they all were?
Some covers with the mounts also have a sensor mounting hole. SS ones are the same animal.

If you don't have the sensor on the rocker cover, can't you just swap them around (top to bottom) if you want the oil cooler underneath the front cylinder for the 749 type cooler?

There won't be a sensor on a '94. The covers will fit top or bottom.

Once the cooler arrives I'll see what can be done with the existing mount - when I previously looked into this I discounted mine as unsuitable, but that might not be the case. It appears to be custom, anyway.

At the same time I'll check what I need wrt the cooler lines/nipples.

Top choice, they really bring the motor to life.

Not as expensive as it seems at first, you'll get a lot better fuel consumption, so the more you ride the more you save.
