S4 Project

I thought it was about time i uploaded some pictures of my S4. I purchased this as a non runner at the start of the year for what i thought was a good price especially having only covered 2700 miles!



Unfortunately the tank had been stored empty and was well beyond salvaging in my opinion.







Upto this point i have purchased a red plastic tank (i still need the correct hinge), checked the valve clearances and replaced the belts. Oh as well as discovering an immobiliser fault which is being dealt with. With any luck it might be running tomorrow for the first time in nearly 8 years!!

I've just got an S4 too. I'm missing a couple of bits and haven't got the seat cowl. Are they easy to find and how do they attach?

They fit to captive nuts in the saddle, not too hard to find they come up on ebay quite often I paid £40 for the ones I bought over the past four months.

It definitely looks better in red and if all goes to plan it won't look so standard for long!

Shame about that tank...I though it was some pictures from NASA of a newly discovered planetiod.

Bearing in mind the condition of the tank, I would be very keen to flush out the cooling system and check the condition of that too. Then add some OATS coolant to protect it in the future.

In fact I personally would not be happy with anything less than a complete fluids change. Forks, brakes and engine oil...The whole lot, followed by another oil change after a couple of hundred miles.

A little oil down the spark plug holes and a slow turn by over by hand, probably won't hurt either.

Expect an almighty cloud from the silencers when she fires.!! Wish I could be there.. Good luck with her.

That's a good looking Monster: it's not often you see an unaltered S4 any more. I like your photo's too: is that seven wheelie bins and a recycling box in one?

Haha thanks for all of the comments! Maybe you can tell by the lack of updates but this weekend was unsuccessful. The fuel pump now primes however when you hit the start button nothing some more time spent with the multimeter is required.

New to me, my little S4. Gave it some spit and polish and it's come up not too bad for an old girl...

WTF^^^^^^ Is that a pair of fishnet pants you've got on the passenger seat??

Last owner put the pant on the seat to cover up damage to the OE cover! Lord know what he had been doing on it! Looks good with my stiletto boots though!

Keep an eye on Ebay for the seat cowl. S4's and an the air cooled moster 1000s/900s are interchangeable. I bought mine a year or so back for circa £60.00. I think you can still get them new from Ducati as well??.....Anything but the "pants"!

I haven't updated this much lately but she now lives!!! All ready for the MOT on Friday.
