S4r
I'm going to have a look at an '06 bike with under 7k miles on it, 996 engine, pictures look good, dealer wants just under 6k for it.
What should I be aware of - look out for?

No, I decided I didn't really need it. I love the M900 so decided not to sell it and bought some new Showa forks for it, so with the Ohlins shock I fitted last year it should be a 'new bike'.

I think you're right to hang onto the M900 (I would as they will only go up in value now because of what they are) for sure and prices will skyrocket for those original Monsters. On the other hand the S4 and S4R s/hand prices seem to be holding fairly steady around 4.-5k. I could easily get back what I paid for mine but in a few years time I think they will go the same way as the original M900 and once they top out the others will be fetching silly money too. In terms of overall performance the S4/S4R offers little over the M900 in handling and overall rider experience but expect huge power gains and much sillyness from the 4V engine. They are great fun and a hoot to ride. Mad as!

I agree, I didn't buy the bike as an investment, but prices going up are more than welcome. Once I get these forks on it should transform the bikes handling.
