Gary, are you saying that the post Y2K tanks with the more rounded seat recess are all the same shape, whether on injection or carb models ?
If so, thats good to know, cos my tank is the later type, so that would mean that any of the later injection tanks should fit the seat that I have.

It sounds that way .
I must really have a look at this in the fleash.

Gordon just a thought... Could a seat upholster not sort it and recover a seat (sculpt / add something to make the gap less obvious?
I also wondered about this gap .

Don't panic my bikes not perfect and I'm fitting bits that are not 100% perfect but hey that's my call .
The main thing is you can now ride it safely and it works!
I'm sure a small gap will not prevent that so please don't feel bad

this subject interests me I thought about this injected metal tank or kept looking at ie tanks by accident so I am curious.

Externally metal tanks have a similar shape post Y2K, but injected ones have a bigger fuel cap opening to allow access to pump & filter inside. Tanks on monsters like the S4 have a slightly different shape underneath, and use a flat mounted gel battery. I think this might be due to the taller 4V heads, which forces the throttle bodies/airbox up into tank space. Maybe an S4 owner can confirm this?

Plastic tanks are a whole different ball game, and really depends on which
monster it was designed for.. M620, M800, S2R800, S2R1000 etc..

Pre Y2K shape VVV

Later 2K onwards shape VVV

Now, I wonder if the cans off a 750ss can be fitted to the 900..........
Sorry Gordon - did I touch a nerve?

I'm sure it hardly shows from a distance.. such as earths geostationary orbit for example
