When I was building bikes more regularly there were several of us at my old firm who used to raid the engineering storeroom for stainless bolts etc, and they used to say help yourself!.They were mostly iirc A2 grade which was certainly good enough for most applications and would stay good for many years.

You could then join the upgraded to company spec company bike club! I think most stainless you can get online nowadays is A2 grade anyway and usually Ok. Since I left there and was forced to actually buy bolts the A2 stuff seems decent enough. In fact the only dodgy stainless bolts on my bike were the ones already supplied with the parts. I've just replaced all the pinch bolts on the billet triple clamps I bought ages ago and the bolts were the original ones and they were turning black with oxidisation so just replaced with Ti bolts because I was bored!

Vince, I think I have found something carbon that isn’t on your bike!

Prefer the look of the RoadRacing ones.

Yea, I have similar ones on my 748, bought cheap when the company went out of business, p!us a load of their other stuff too! People always ask and always a talking point. Shame they don't fit the 65mm monster forks or I might have been tempted. Or perhaps its a good thing they don't?

I have taken against those things. They remind me of 1990's Japanese trail bikes where they were fitted to keep the crap off the discs ( not to "aerate" the discs, which I suspect would do just as well without them ). Folks just took them off.

I changed those screws on my 900 a couple of years ago- I got some nice drilled Ti ones that can be lockwired:

I’ll also recommend Kay’s for fasteners along with ‘About Town Bolts’ for lots of general fasteners and fixings and ‘Race Ti’ for erm your Titanium stuff.

On the subject of which I got fed up every time I opened the garage being greeted by horrible dull original Fork Pinch bolts so bought some shiny Ti replacements.

Only joking of course! I have recently discovered that the large head mushroom M6x16mm bolts for mudguards etc as fitted to the later IE bikes (not sure if the carbies are the same) but they are actually the same as a Yamaha R6/R1 fairing part (maybe ThunderAce too) so if you're looking for Ti ones of those don't pay Pro-bolt prices for the Ducati ones, as they are much cheaper on fleabay, still not cheap mind.

I'm currently only allowed to do one mudguard at a time!

Well, you're both right! I've got neither.

I've seen the stand before, Ryan, when I've been window shopping on the Fullsiz site. But even I blanched at £250+ for a sidestand

Not a big fan of brake scoops, Darren, but, if I had to choose a pair, it'd have to be the old RoadRacing ones.

Update finally. The cover arrived and its a nice piece of work but doesn't fit. Wrong shape and the hole centres aren't wide enough compared to the original

That's disappointing, Ryan, but not unexpected. If you fancy the Ducati Performance one (like mine 96645010B) Ducati Croydon appear to have one in stock for £35. https://www.inmoto.com/buy/Ducati-Ti.../dci-96645010B

Just thought this might be of some kind of interest re ways to pass the time and to lightening efforts. The photos are of a carbon bracket I made up last week, it replaces the standard air box support pillars and holds the fusebox/ECU/Main fuse. Carbon isn't too difficult to work with better results if you use your oven to help with the curing process. Bitza
