I think it's such a nice bike you should keep it. Bearing in mind you have all correct bits too. I also hope you think we are trying to help you sell this bike and not berate it.

Believe me when I say its not been an easy decision, once gone I doubt I'll ever find another but it needs to be used and not become a garage Queen.

Keep it! Just make a habit of having a regular run out on it. I’ve had my 1993 900 for nigh on 17 years, it’s currently not in use as the tank is leaking and I have absolutely no space to work on it for now... still won’t part with it

If the tank is leaking from the underside or a place out of view, a five minute application of Por Patch Putty will solve it (drain taink first obviously).

It will fox leaks in easily seen places too, but...

It has been tig welded. Unfortunately it took two goes and the second time round the first welds cracked (almost invisible), my welder will sort it when I get some room to get the tank off again. It was a bit of a shame as he did a brilliant job of keeping the weld tidy and not burning the original paint

Not a fan of putty fixes, bit of a bodge if you ask me

Brazing might be better than welding and kinder to the tank, just saying.

I hope you get a good result second time around.

Any reason to consider POR Patch Putty a bodge? It works 100%, its warranteed for three years by companies who offer tank repair, its stronger than steel and its easy to use, no fire risk, & cheaper than Tig welding.

Each to their own of course!

But did Cagiva use it in ‘93?
