seat wanted for a 1998 Monster

I need a seat for my Monster 900... either excellent condition or even one with a good base and a tatty cover that I can get a new one for...

Take care that you get the right shape at the very front of the saddle so it matches the shape of the recesses in the fuel tank. They changed to a more rounded shape about 2000 model year and there seem to be more of the later ones for sale at the moment.

The part number for the seat base didn’t change, they were just trimmed to a different shape at the factory.

That makes a late one out of an early one, but to make a late one into the earlier shape is likely to require an addition to the seat base and re-cover.

There are also two kinds of seat latch that you might encounter. Yours most likely has a metal loop on the seat for a hooked type latch on the frame, Later ones have a "spike" on the seat with a slot in the side to engage with a spring loaded bar an a hole.

Happily they simply swap out between the identical seat bases.

A post 2000 tank. The saddle is shaped to fit the higher more rounded recess:
