Time on my hands. Hands that like to do stuff.
Not bike related but artistic design.
Its been a hard slog lately being officially redundant after a stint of 24 years and 10 months with one company but I have been keeping my hands sorting out my life finishing stuff, making new stuff and getting old stuff sold. But 2 years ago I treated myself to a Manson guitar then another then replicated one. Then built my first custom guitar and followed by 2 more that almost finished. This holey moley was started 18 months ago designed from just a picture and maybe 4 or 5 in the world like it. Its such a nice thing to look at and touch. It had meant to be heavy metal flake but I just couldn't afford to get it done professionally and the masking is insane . I decided to flat it all down and woodstain and came out with a purple metallic after 4 coats. I liked it and lacquered it. Hope you like it and hope you like my next effort but I know some airplane lovers will for sure. That's being strung right now. uploads photos

That's stunning, Albie I dread to think how many man-hours you've got invested in that.
Bet it handles well too, what with all those lightening holes! |

Tbh I dont count. Initially not so many then I start redoing stuff. The original holes were too small so bigger holes more alloy tube to cut then the tedious filing. It's been painted with primer then an audi silver then lacquer ruined it and I couldnt clean the hole edges without chipping. As to why I sanded flat and stain. Luckily Manson sell their stock pickups cheap from upgrades so I take advantage at that. I now use my own name on too because Shuffy did me a font. I never touched this for nearly a year until lockdown but really happy knowing it's done.

Very nice Albie.
Looks like a Rosewood fretboard and maybe a Maple body? Do you play Albie?

That looks interesting I must say. I have a custom made Strat copy guitar which the body with twin humbuckers that a friend made for his degree but he was no luthier and it has a twisted neck so it never played great, it was ok. The cheapo Korean Squire Strat I have is ok but it buzzes and I still never managed to get the SRV or Hendrix tone from it, maybe a bit Claptonesc sometimes. My Les Paul on the other hand? Lol awesome, not played for 10 years though.

Amazing Albie. It must give you a great feeling of accomplishment to look at that guitar (or art?) and know you made it with your own hands. Well done sir!
