696/796/1100 plug 'n' play LED headlight
Just found this while browsing eBay - I'm not seriously considering it but I found it interesting as this is the first LED unit I've seen designed to fit in the standard 696/796/1100 frame.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-LED-H...4/153703683973 Not sure how much more effective it would be than the standard arrangement, bearing in mind that I think that the main reason for the poor illumination stems from the original headlamp shape, which this new unit retains. By the way, anyone else reminded of spider eyes by this arrangement? |

Jeez, that's a dear one. I was reminded of spider eyes when I saw these: -

I have one but the one I bought is all black inside and has a plain cover. I decided I wanted to change the look of the headlight and give the bike a more modern look. Light output and spread is much much better than the stock unit, even though it had better bulbs installed.
It is plug and play, no horrible surprises. I've found one flaw in the black paint inside the headlight under the high beam lense has bubbled under strong sunlight, magnified by the lense above. A strip and repaint in the winter will fix that. Longevity? Its manufactured in China, some stuff is good, some not. I only hope if it does give out it's not when I'm riding home in the dark. I bought mine in January, from memory it took about 3 weeks to arrive.
I've tried posting photos but can't get them to upload onto here? Is there a how to guide on how to upload an image? |
