Google suggests ‘Cagiva Racing Developments’, but I couldn’t see a link to anything definitive?

It's Italian (unsurprisingly!) and stands for "Centro Ricerche Ducati" (Ducati Research Centre).

Slightly odd that it also appears on Cagiva keys too?

Especially as it appears it was ‘Born in 2006 from a collaboration between the University of Bologna, the University of Trento and the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Ducati Research Center makes use of the work of a considerable group of engineers dedicated to the development of innovative solutions in the field reduction of emissions and alternative traction systems’?

Looks like they've just resurrected and repurposed the name.

That link you posted, Darkness, refers to the CRD in Bologna University. I think it's effectively just sponsored by Ducati working on improving motive power for the global good, not for Ducati itself.

The original CRD would have been the internal research and development department within the Cagiva group itself.

I suspect so, but haven’t yet find specific reference to it in the 90s, just speculation on forums.

I get that it's a research centre reference......but why would you put it on a key?

Cagiva do appear to have had a Cagiva Racing Department in the late 80s, so that may be why they put CRD and a tricolore stripe on the keys?

Never believe anything you read on a forum (including from me!).

Best go to the horse's mouth (or, in this case, the son-of-the-horse's mouth - MV Agusta!).

Interesting!

I've been in touch with Isaydingdong who can hopefully help, but time will tell. Mine is the 'DUCATI' version with CRD on it too. Would anyone else be interested in these stickers if they were to replicate off one of my keys? It might just make it more worth their time.

Problem solved

I have ventured into getting some CRD decals being made. 4 for me and I have 10 key sets available for sale. It cost me time and money to get them printed by a fabulous printing company and are as accurate as possible in 3 colour layer and clear as near as dammit size wise. I used an original good condition key and photographed it with measurements using a vernier. They then did the rest and they appeared today. My boss man couldn't believe the quality.

They are not cheap to get done but I hope I can sell them to get my money back. you cannot find the original keys anywhere in blank and I had a blank ducati key just removed the aluminium inset one and replaced both my keys.

Cost is £10 a key set of 2 decals including post to UK.
