S4r

Very seriously considering buying an S4R…can’t quite stretch to an RS sadly…

What’s the general consensus on them…it would be the one with the 998 engine.

I believe the 998 engine ones about 130bhp or there abouts.

What’s the rough prices for a real nice condition one?

Any thoughts would be welcome

Cheers troops

Beautiful classic styling. Tons of grunt. 80 odd miles between fillups. Great to hoon around on, not so good for touring!

Go for it!

There’s a nice S4R for 7k or maybe that super nice S4RS someone posted up at 9.5k.

How are they reliability wise? The usual don’t go cheap on servicing and you’ll be fine are they temperamental things.

I’ve had a rectifier, a throttle position sensor and a radiator re-core due to the way the cooling fans fix through the radiator matrix. Usual tank swell issue.

The S4R has 2 versions the early ones had 996 DesmoQuattro engines/steel tanks a then the later 998 Testastretta version with the plastic tanks similar to the RS but without Ohlins.

I know you were looking for a 998 S4R but you gotta consider this 996 one, looks like a real bargain if you want a 4v Monster: -

Only ever 79 listed as registered in the uk.

There are 5 'stratta S4r's on ebay. '06, '07 and '08 £5k to 8k. The '08 is cheaper than the older ones!
