All monstered up again

Well, the EVO arrived at 6 pm on Thursday. Totally trouble free transaction from the dealer in Gloucestershire, free delivery too (he had another 2 deliveries in the NE). The bike looks fantastic, the termis perfet and the riiding position (well, sitting on it really) perfect. Chucked it down yesterday but took it round some of the local twisties after filling tank at my local BP station. I love it! But I can see what everyone means about the fuelling. Stuck in traffic on way back and that is not its forte.

Dealer gave it a full service, all fluids and filters, new belts (old ones provided as proof) and a new set of tyres (Dunlop Sportmax....hmmmmmm but they seemed OK)

Need to get the ECU chip modded as recommended

Need to buy/make an adpter for my battery charger so I can plug in under the seat and get an R&G oil cooler guard to protect the fins. Change the mirrors.

Pics below show the bike, the last 2 intrigued me, the handlebar clamp is no standar I guess and has what I think is a sat nav or camera mount. To the right of this another mount with a pic of a triangle on it side with a circle at the right side. Also a camera/sat nav I suppose. Please correct me if they're something else!

Nice in black that.

Defo after market handlebar clamp. No biggie imo.

First thing to try for slow speed stuff is the sprocket mod. Either 14T front or go up on the rear. Then get the rexxer flash done…and the mwr air filter and power up kit.

Congratulations! Looks good in black. You'll definitely feel the benefit of a Cornerspeed reflash.

I'm not sure how much the R&G guard is (£45-ish?), but the 696 comes with a mesh cover as standard (46013431A) and is around £29 (or less if you use your 10% discount at Moto Rapido). I don't know why it wasn't fitted to the 796/1100 but it should just slot in (the shrouds on both the 696 and 1100 are the same).

I've not seen a clamp like yours before.

Enjoy your Evo!

The black plastic strap to the left of the clamp is a Topeak bracket, discontunued I think and probably for a waterproof phone case. The clamp itself takes a Ram mount for a sat nav or camera. I can't find the clamp on any site, maybe it was a collabaration between Ducati and RAM, probably for the Mult mainly

EVOTECH Cooler Guard on mine. With a bit of added colour to offset my virtually all black EVO..

Looks good but you need some carbon side covers there to really set it off? The peg's not a good look though. are you measuring trail or something?

Spot on Vince. Front end in bits during last service. Boot laces and pegs - kind on both frame and brake lines..

I like the rad cover Boris. I think you may have given me a idea of how to cheer my battered rad up..

Been on a longer run, found some traffic again and the bike is a dog in heavy traffic but great fun when opened up. I've checked it over and both o2 sensors are removed and blanked, front wiring appeared to have leccie tape around it, haven't Checked the back yet. The exhaust valve servo is missing so assume the valve is open - must still cause turbulence though? I can't tell if the remap has been done but it looks unlikely I view of the lurching/spitting in closed loop running, I'll ring Neil for advice on this.

1st mod is going to be removing and replacing the link pipe c/w valve gear. A local specialist can custom make the pipes but question is why are the connections to the front and back pipes smaller diameter flanged out to fit? Why not use the same diameter as the flanged section?

I see from your earlier pictures that you have the Ducati Performance race exhaust, which comes with its own ECU. When you turn on the ignition, does the welcome message say 'Monster 1100 Evo DP' or just 'Monster 1100 Evo'? If it shows 'DP', then you've got the Termi race ECU, which disables both the lambdas and servo valve. (It's likely that you do have the race ECU, otherwise the CEL would be lit following removal of the lambdas and servo.)

Even though the DP ECU is supposedly matched to the Termis, it still doesn't give particularly smooth fuelling at low speed, as you've found, and you'll still benefit from a Rexxer reflash courtesy of Neil at Cornerspeed.

As for the servo valve itself - yes, in theory it may present a slight restriction but nothing worth worrying about. I changed the mid-section to remove it and I couldn't detect any change in sound, performance or fuelling - it just looks better!

Thanks for the info Vince, the dash shows just Evo not EVO DP but no fault display so presumably the electricians tape hides a blanking gizmo. I'll see what Neil says but it's looking like a remap should be my first port of call. Are Termis Synonymous with DP? The dealer said they were Termis but they aren't Ducati specialists so perhaps they were mistaken

Your cans certainly look like genuine Termis. If that's the case, they would have come with the DP ECU. If you look at the rivetted straps at the end of the cans, you should see somewhere the TERMIGNONI name. This is what's on mine, (which are the stainless homologated version):

By the way, as well as an ECU, the DP Termi kit also comes with a performance air filter element and modified airbox lid with additional holes. So, if you ever lift your tank, you should find your airbox lid looks like this:

'Racing' airbox lid

rather than this:

Standard airbox lid

When you get the chance, pop the front sprocket cover off and count the teeth. Standard is 15 teeth and many people, (myself included), fit a 14 tooth, which lowers the gearing and helps mask some of the low-speed bad behaviour.
