Disconnect at the throttle cam, turn the bars and see how much the cable retracts. That, plus half an inch, is the increase in length.

Thanks, Venhill also said the same earlier.

The inner cable only seemed to retract about 10mm. But I also need longer sleeves because they are being pulled tight.

S4 or more likely ST2/4 (as some of these had higher touring bars) may be longer than those you have for the S2 and possibly with the same fittings.

If the cables are too long would that cause any issues or can you just adjust the slack out?

I've ordered some from Venhill but I don't trust my measurements haha

depends how much too long and how much adjustemt you have.
if you work out you need (eg) 3cm longer cables, both the sleeve and the cable will be 3cm longer than stock, the amount of cable sticking out of the sleeve is the same on old an new cables
