I recall getting a shaft out of some needle bearings that had rusted, kin evil job that was too. A quick job at the weekend that spread over a few days . The things had working lip seals still so nothing got past them, cut some bits out of the seals and the fill of old grease and rust didn't let anything seep in.
I ended up getting so frustrated that I ended up mullahing the end caps and getting some of the bearings out... which got the shaft out with only medium levels of violence but left the bearing outer cases in which was another one of those painful saga's of destruction to remove using a very small wickedly sharp chisel welded onto a long bar and big hammer.

Took about 15 minutes to put it all back together
