Fairing Support Bracket

Finally got round to ordering a higher screen for my S4. This is going to make the fairing even more "flappy" at speeds - I need some kind of support bracket. After some research a product manufactured by "Poor Duc Rider" seems to be the answer (see related thread)

Website no longer operational - anyone got any ideas on alternative??

Capo knows exactly what I'm thinking......

This may require some tweaking ...

but could provide you with a reasonable starting point:

section 1 (top of pic) from headlight bolt 27mm

fixing centre 6mm from tip or 21mm from bend

42 degree bend
88mm
42 degree bend
92mm
centre of twist at approx 58mm (approx 5mm either side of centre)

fixing centre 7mm from tip

overall length 217mm

width at widest point between parallel pieces 52mm

thanks to funkatronic for the pic and measurements

Or for a slightly better, more serious and practical solution grab some of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALUMINIUM-...item5af73732dd cut a 20/30mm length, drill a 6mm hole in one end, take a slice out of the other thin enough to bend but be strong enough, drill tap, bolt, glue whatever. Brackets are easy, even I can do them with my limited kitchen draw tool kit and hammers

File and polish if required or leave rough and 'to be finished one day' if you are like me

Hi Alan, I know it's not technically a Monster, but I had the same problem on a BMW F800R when I fitted a Piug screen.
Someone sent me a link to Wunderlich for a support to stop the screen bouncing about at speed, howver they wanted over £60 in UK, which I thought for 2 brackets was too much.

What I did was I got a galvinsed metal coat hanger of a decent diameter, I can't remember the dia, sorry, cut it to length, I then made a small loop at either end so it could be secured by a screw holding the headlight bracket at one end and a screw securing the screen at the other. With one end being fitted to the headlight bracket rather than the 2 ends being fitted to the screen itself it puts less strain on the screen, as I said I know it's not a Monster S4, so fitting points may not be as easy to find.
It worked perfectly, and is quite inobtrusive, see picture , you could paint them black or whatever should you want to disguise them further, and cost basically nothing, you may need to get slightly longer screws, I didn't.

The only thing I had to do was explain to my wife why her dress was lying on the floor!!!

Wow - lots of DIY suggestions.......coat hangers, carbon fibre, aluminium and steel contraptions........I'm sure there's a market for these things somewhere

There's a supplier in the states, PoorDucRider fairing stays that make a pair of ally brackets that fit perfectly plus a guy on the American monster forum used to make a really nice carbon and ally billet set up but didn't have much success in trading so packed in, a real shame.
