Yes, you read that right... something I thought I would never have to do - but unfortunately I'm broke and I have to sell my beloved Monster.
Those of you who know the bike, know just how much care and attention I have lavished on this machine over the years, and how unique it is... but I shall endeavour to highlight the key elements below: • I bought this bike brand new in October 2002 - a Monster M620ie. Since then, the original blue bodywork (metal tank) has been repainted in cream, complete with 'retro' Ducati tank graphics, the Meccanica logo on the rear seat cowl and the Ducati shield logo on the front mudguard. These graphics have not been lacquered over, so can be removed if desired, and I will also include some spares that I had cut at the same time. • It is fitted with a Febur single-sided swing arm conversion, that uses all Ducati parts - including adjustable ride-hight linkage. • Rear wheel is from a 916, and fitted with a 190 section Pirelli Diablo - it was originally mirror polished but over the years has achieved a more appropriate (and easier to keep clean!) satin patina. • Similarly, the original M620 front wheel has also been polished/satin patina, and is fitted with Braking Wave 320mm discs. • Front mudguard is from a Sport Classic, colour-matched to the rest of the bodywork. • Shorty belly pan finished in satin black. • Custom under-engine exhaust by Zorstec. This was modelled on the original Road Racing style exhaust, but features improvements for ground clearance and performance... and it sounds awesome! • S2R top yoke fitted together with Rental 'trials' Fatbars that offer and increased hight and better/more comfortable sweep than the stock bar position. Rizoma reservoir caps, CRG shorty levers and custom 'under arm' mirrors fitted. • S4 seat fitted that offers around 30mm more seat hight (note. if you act quickly, I'd be happy to swap it for the original lower seat if required, which I also have for sale) • JMO tail-chop kit fitted, of course ;o) • DPM front indicators (fitted to air-box sides) and Clear Alternatives integrated rear lamp fitted. • Ducati Performance (S4 Challenge) solo rear-set foot pegs fitted. The bike has been faultless it's whole life - for over 42,000 miles - right up until the summer of 2012 when, after a 3000 mile trip around Europe, it decided it no longer liked it's output-shaft bearing, and spat it's oil all over the N26 in France... On return to the UK, rather than rebuild it, I was fortunate to find an extremely low mileage 2002 M620 engine that the breaker confirmed had only covered 5000 miles. This engine has been fitted, and since then only covered approximately another 1000 miles - it really feels like a new bike in that regard. A few more photos to highlight the details: Sport Classic front mudguard, Braking Wave discs, new tyre fitted last year at the IOM. cont. Last edited by JMo; 31-08-2015 at 05:39 PM.. |

cont.
Under engine exhaust is a work of art... loud art. Custom tank graphics based on the 'Old Times' jacket design. Febur single-side swing arm conversion is completely bolt on, and uses most of the original Monster parts, plus the hub, brake and rear wheel from a 916/996 etc. S2R top yoke and Renthal Fat-bars - plus other control candy from Rizoma and CRG. Note. bike is currently fitted with a personal plate that is NOT included in the sale, it will be re-registered on an age-related 52 plate. As you can imagine, this is not your run-of-the-mill 12 year old hack... this is an excellent example (with only around 6000 miles on the current engine), one-owner, lovingly cared for and with a host of unique customised features. I believe I am being realistic in asking £2200.00 for this bike, including the original front mudguard that was also colour matched but never fitted. Please, offer the old girl a new and loving home... Jenny xx Last edited by JMo; 19-08-2015 at 01:16 PM.. |

Wow... Can't believe Smeegal is up for sale, must be heartbreaking... I really couldn't justify a 3rd Monster, despite this being one of the very first club Monsters I ever saw on my very first weekender... 2008 I think?
Hope a good home is found.

Damn.....this is a shock.
I too have a lifetime keeper, so I feel your pain. I'm guessing there's no point in saying "are you sure ?", so I'll just hope that you find it a good home, preferably within the club. Always been one of my favourite monsters. In my opinion, the price is very fair. |

I would say the asking price is very fair for one of the nicest custom Monsters for many a country mile. Someone out there will know it's a bargain and snap it up.
If it were mine I would put a "First refusal to buy back" clause in the deal....Really sad that you have to be parted. |

Yep she's a beaut, particularly like the swing arm and exhausts.
Very fair price I'd say. |

Sad to see you forced to sell - I know it's much more than 'just a bike' to you Jenny
There's a lot of club history there, including being one of the original weekender BOTY trophy winners Really hope Smeegal finds a good home

Thank you everyone...
The sun was shining yesterday so I took it for a blast from Marlborough down to Brighton (to see some friends) and back - all those old favourite roads I'd not ridden for ages - the 272 from Winchester to Petersfield, then over to South Harting and down the classic B2141 to Chichester, past Goodwood, the 285 down Dunton Hill to Petworth, then the 283 and of course that lovely section from Washington Roundabout via Styning to Shoreham... coming back via Bury Hill, Goodwood again, then up and over to Alton, and the 339 to Basingstoke on a sunny evening - perfect! You guys in the South/South East will know those roads well from the early UKMOC monthly ride-outs - great days! Anyway, the bike felt as awesome as ever, and perfect for those kind of roads! You won't be disappointed. I wasn't. Jx |

I know from first hand experience what it's like to have to sell a bike that's been so big a part of your life for so long, but sometimes needs must. I voted for this bike as bike of the year at this years weekender. It's a truly excellent example and I know how much attention to detail has gone in to it. Good luck with the sale Jen and I hope it goes to a good home. The buyer won't be disappointed.

End of an era Jen, a shame for sure but good luck with the sale.
I knew Smeegal when tiger print was in fashion, there wasn't a 916 missing a swing arm and shares in Solvol Autosol were still cheap!!! What's Piglet going to ride now?

I'll bump this and ask a Q at the same time
The 'Febur single-sided swing arm conversion', is that a stock 916 swing arm that has been modified? |
