Service light indicator on dash

Is there any DIY method to reset the service light indicator on the dash? I have a 2020 Monster 1200S.

I've spoken to a couple of garages, Ducati dealer and local independents, and they have all said the same thing - they can reset the light but only if they undertake the service first. I've asked if i can pay for doing the light reset without the service work and the answer is no.

So, whilst i get that garages will want the work, its not like they are putting their name to someting that they havent done (or are they?). I wouldn't think there is any record kept on the bike computer of who did the reset? Or if there is does that matter? Doing the reset doesnt mean they did the service - just that they did the reset?)

Its not like its illegal, or in any way suspect for me to do my own servicing. I've built many custom bikes from scratch so more than capable of doing my own service, but would seem that this is somehow prohibited by default by having an authorised user / dealer only software reset

I would have thought any independent with a Texa and the right licenses/cables should be able to do it. Whether they want to is another question. I haven’t read Texa’s Ts&Cs though.
Official dealer probably isn’t allowed to to by the factory.
I had a hard time persuading a dealer to sell me a workshop manual twenty years ago, they just don’t want you not paying them for servicing.

Sure that someone on here said that the Evo service light could be reset by anyone who had access to a laptop and appropriate lead for a Fiat Punto ? If you know of local garage man with a SnapOn hand held diagnostic reader that might work……they come with a variety of leads and connections……

Not sure if the likes of JPdia / Melcodiag or Tune ECU works with the Monster, always worth a quick google.
Or you can buy OBDstar, think they are about 350-400 quid though

Different generations of Monsters have different (manufacturer) ECUs
IIRC
Gen2 (until S2R/S4Rs) Marelli …use JP Diag
Gen3 (x96/1100) Siemens …use Melco Diag
Gen4 (1200) Bosch … no idea but R model is completely different to the main development track

These days, maybe also for your bike, the diagnosis is online. Bologna will know what the dealer have done or not done.

It sucks that they would force you to use dealer servicing for the life of the bike in order to just turn off a light.

I had googled the other makes above - but not OBDstar. Had a look at that today and interestingly on their sales page they have images of the scanner during various actions - one of which appears to show (partially!) how to reset the light without the tool! I wonder if anyone on here has OBDstar and could navigate to the same screen and get the rest of the instruction?

I have the same issue, no dealer or independent will turn off my light either. I have investigated Melco diag and they say it can be done but the last time I tried (2 years Ago) it didn't work.

You can buy the OBD star on Aliexpress and save a couple of quid in the process.
