Disk Lock Under Seat
Hi there,
Has anyone found a decent disc lock that will fit under the seat of a Monster 821? It's a bit of a challenge, cheers Tim Last edited by fryingtonite; 08-09-2021 at 11:11 AM.. Reason: typo |

Not seen any that are tiny that can't be opened using a biro or a convenient twig.
In the end a disk lock is just a visible deterent or a measure to slow down the bike from being knicked. If they just scoop it up into the back of a van then who really cares if the wheel isn't turning. Is it worth looking at something like these 60x70x25mm, it looks "well 'ard" which is probably the effect you'd be looking for. Of course it depends on the disk type as to wether you could fit it onto the disk, probably down towards the base unless you had one or two holes on a drilled disk enlarged to fit the pin.

I have this
https://www.halfords.com/motoring/mo...el-536190.html Fits in my bike jacket pocket, this is for out and about and it does make you feel a lot more comfortable leaving the bike parked up, at home it is shackled to the garage floor and watched by cctv 24/7. not paranoid just wasn't a great feeling when a bike did get stolen. |

I use a couple of Oxford Juniors, different colours for easy key identification, one front and one rear. Cheap and cheerful. Just a deterrent but the most expensive lock you can buy won’t stop the curse of 18v angle grinders.

Bastards!
I know Monsters don't have centre stands, (as standard) but I wonder if anyone has thought of a lock down centre stand? Or have I just invented something brilliant? Edit.. No hang on they'd just cut the legs off wouldn't they!!

I hesitate to mention the "s" word on this forum but the Yamaha TMAX has had a locking centre stand for the last few years so someone else thought it was a good idea, Mr G.

Ha! Nothing new under the Sun eh? Assuming that a Yamaha TMAX is a motorcycle and not an electric piano?
So I have a development to stop grinding the legs off.. Pop a bit of loose round bar in the tubular leg before welding it up and it will spin in the tube when the disc hits it and prevent further cutting. With luck it will shatter the disc and take an eye out.. A friendly policeman told me that one years ago for making grindproof window bars made of box section.
