I've been using the SDoc 100 products for a while now and find both the chain cleaner and spray work well. Spray the cleaner on, leave for 15 mins wash of with a hose, dry off with a old towel and the chain looks like new. Once it's dry apply the chain lube, job done and I don't get any fling off. All good stuff.

been arguing about the 'creep' action of paraffin at work. time to get a small tube and do some tests on capiliary action I think

Oe Ducati is made of cheese... I went with a Trofeo TRX kit with a pair of Afam sprockets... 4,000 miles in and still doesn't need it first adjustment. £140 for the complete kit... I replaced my OE chain once it had tight spots and had 1 marker left on the adjuster.. was stretched by 2 links in the end and totally ****ed.

OE Only lasted 6300 miles as did the front sprocket.

I literally pull out a clump of sludge , oil , grit from the front sprocket , good news is it is now clean and has a 520 VL DID chain, 15/39 sprocket, the rear sprocket looks OE but has gold sprocket nuts

Do these look all good , too much chain wax ? to be honest I would like to clean it again , it was filthy!

I've done just over 3000 miles on my 821 and have only adjusted the original chain once and both chain and sprockets look good, I always relub every 300 miles. I'm hopeing I get more than 6500 miles like Fuzzy did.

Paraffin does have the ability to "creep" through tiny gaps.
This used to be exploited in its use in crack detection, where parts were immersed in paraffin and then surface dried before being coated in chalk dust.
The cracks are revealed as paraffin which has previously seeped into them is drawn out into the chalk.

I wouldn't expect it to pass an o-ring seal though.
Nevertheless, I only use it sparingly for cleaning an o-ring chain.

I also use the S.Doc lube but I didn't bother with the cleaner.
I might give it a go now though, following Pete's recommendation.
But first I'll be trying brush-applied scottoil.

I'd agree. If there is any paraffin seepage it would be very small. I do recommend Scottoil dripped on and I would think that Hypoid 90 gear oil should also be ok and that's very thick oil

Yes, I've read that and the guy is recommending oils for his product but I've got some 90 gear oil on the shelf now - it is not 'very thick' although I am not saying don't use it on chains.

The numbers may be misleading - engine oil is SAE J300 and gear oil is SAE J306 so the numbers cannot be compared i.e. a 90 engine oil would be very thick.....although there isn't one as it would not be usable.

Lots of good tips here - must have heard me swearing!
To diverse slightly - Fitted new standard sprockets (15-38) and DID chain to match in September 2018
Checked tension in August after about 300 miles everything OK.
Quick spray of Rock Oil lube at 29700.
Checked again last week at 30377 and chain had semi-seized (stiff in the joints)
Washed chain in paraffin - better but still semi seized.
Help please, in what new chain to use (original standards) and how to lubricate. Thanks.

Get your paddock stand and lube ready, then go for a short run (10 miles).
Then give the chain a good lube while still warm.
Wipe off excess when cool.
