When checking the service book, I found the belts were last changed by Ducati in 2014, for some reason I thought it was 2016.....
Anyway quick call to Ducati Glasgow -service kit ordered, and promptly changed following the info in this thread. Bit of a faff getting the vertical belt on, putting it on the at the crank pulley first and a bit of wiggling at the cam pulley and all good!
Well you got away with it: late changing of belts has no adverse effect on the motor whatsoever, up until the point where one snaps.

indeed. I must add that I've only had the bike for a year, and thought they had been done in 2016.... I guess the fact its only done 1500 miles since the last belt changed helped. Anyway they are changed now and good for a couple of years.

Just for reference, generally being left for long periods not being run is considered worse as they tend to harden off over time and take a 'set' around the relatively small radius of the cam pulley.

But as you say, they're done now so all good!

I used to do them always at 2 years but now let them go 3 or 10,000 miles ,,for the 2 valvers 750 they are cheap as chips but for the S4 the price is a ripoff ....
