Castle Tour of Wales 2022

Navigating a course through the COVID minefield of the last two years has been a challenge , one of the highlights was a trip to France last September. Hassle…..yes, was it worth it….Oh Yes..

Grumpy engaged his creative juices ( don’t dwell on that thought too long ) to come up with a jaunt a bit nearer home and hey presto we have the Castle tour of Wales.

Now before we go any further this is not intended to be an in depth historical tour comparing defensive attributes of old large buildings, typically of the medieval period, fortified against attack with thick walls, battlements, towers, drawbridges and a moat …….. although we may pop in to one or two.

The castles define the route, waypoints if you will, hopefully many have a car park and a cafe so a brew and record selfie and on to the next one.

The intention is to do this when , thanks to Liz celebrating a record time sat as monarch ,we get a two day bank holiday at the start of June.

The route is shown below ,clockwise is the direction of travel.if anyone fancies a few days , the accommodation is shown below the route ,join in for part or all of the trip ,meet us on the way. Overnighters please contact the accommodation direct.

That’s about it in a nutshell,

You would think so, however there are approx 2500 castles dotted around the UK. Anything from a mound to Windsor!

Well done for organising this trip Mike. Unfortunately the dates clash with our trip to Northern Spain & Portugal, postponed from 2020.
Hope it goes well for all those involved

That's a good trip around. Sadly we're away riding to Monte Carlo from June 2nd to 11th.
