Monster Front Mudguard Query

Anyone know whether a 2003 item will fit a '96 model please?

Pretty sure it won’t as they had changed from the direct ‘lug’ mounting of the early forks to the later type with plastic clips that the mudguard was screwed to by 2003.

Not sure when the change happen but I’m guessing around 2000/1?

As Flip says, the later guard won't fit.

However, a pair of adaptors is easy enough to make.
I made the ones below when I fitted a Carbon guard meant for a later bike to my 97 M900.

You can simplify the bracket slightly by making the central pair of holes concentric. That does increase the clearance between tyre and mudguard though.

Thanks. My skill set is somewhat limited compared to many on this Forum! I'll need to look in my workshop to see if I can easily knock something up. Just to clarify on the brackets in the photos-are the 2 larger holes unthreaded and the 2 smaller ones threaded? Cheers.

The “Larger” holes are clearance holes with countersinking to allow the bolt heads to be flush with the plate: the bolts screw into the fork brackets. The “Smaller” holes are threaded to suit the standard mudguard bolt thread.

Thanks for the help. New mudguard finally fitted today using brackets similar to the above.
