Riding or driving in Italy this year?
According to the UK Gov website, you will need an international driving permit in addition to your driving licence after the UK leaves the EU (currently 31st January). They are available at Post Offices
Italy You will need a 1968 IDP and your UK licence. More info here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/driving-...f-idp-you-need |

I believe that insurance will also be effected if we are no longer a member Country.
Even if EU cover was included in the last policy you bought.. Best to check.

Repercussions, repercussions. Just more non-EU red tape which we don't really need.

And I'm sure this will be the tip of the iceberg, which makes me think Titanic and cold water to swim in at sometime in the not too distant future.

I lived in Italy for several years (late '70s to mid '80s) and whilst I actually got my bike and car licence there, my Parents and elder sister had UK licences when we moved there and used them as residents in Italy without any issue. My Sister still lives there and was given an Italian licence on showing her UK licence, plus they let her keep the English one. I, on the other hand exchanged my Italian licence for a UK version when I moved back here but they kept the Italian licence (needed renewing every 10 years anyway so would have expired long ago anyway). I think they're much more relaxed about these things than we are so, whilst things may be changing I doubt they'll be worrying much about driving permits for visitors...

But if you are unfortunate enough to have an accident it is a means by which the insurance copmanies can avoid paying out / honouring any part of their contract
