NGK spark plugs S4

Can someone give me the EXCACT code for NGK plugs for my S4. OEM Champions are stupid money.

Tried iridium and they sooted up and were oily very quickly, so want to go back to NGK. Ordered a set online however the little nipple thing on the top was fixed and I need to get it off. I thought you could screw off for most spark plugs!

Thanks

If your standard plugs are RA59GC, then I think the direct NGK equivalent is the DCPR9E. However, this only comes with a solid terminal nut. The only NGK fitment I'm aware of with a removable terminal nut is the iridium version DCPR9EIX.

Before giving up on the iridiums, are you sure you ran them with the correct gap? They need to be at 0.9 - 1mm to work properly.

The S4 runs coil sticks so the terminal nut needs to be removable.

Ive got NGK Iridium’s in my 996 and it runs happily on them. The S4 916 engine doesn’t get on with them at all, gap checked as well.

Has anyone got an equivalent code for another brand?

When I order my plugs I look for the suffix number 4339.
This is sometimes called a stock number or type number, but basically you are looking for that 4 digit number
That should get you detachable nipples..

Not actually sure if the number is the same for all the NGK plug grades, it definitely works for my DCPR8E. If not you'll have to just ask the supplier.

Halfords always used to have a little chart listing all the equivalents on the spark plug shelf.. Do they still have Halfords?

Well, the Bosch equivalent is YR4DE but I don't know what kind of terminal they have.

Unfortunately, Mr G, while you can get detachable nipples for plugs in the 8 heat range, the 9s are only available with solid terminals for some reason.

Well found, Mr G! That's well worth knowing.

My S4 has always run nicely on NGK Iridiums but I do have custom maps and tuning
