Gearshift indent arm- heads up

I went to install a factory pro shift arm kit that i’ve had for ages, along with a few other jobs whilst the oil is dropped.
All was going well until it came to undoing the T30 bolt which holds the arm on.
What a feckin pain! It’s a shallow recess for torx to go in. It turned so far and then started to lose grip. The bolt was now rock solid in the thread. It seems further reading ont web reveals it’s likely too strong a threadlock was used at the factory. It’s the first time the right side of the engine, has had the cover removed. Only one option i thought, a small chisel and weighty hammer. Managed 1.5 turns and then it was away from the face of the engine, then hammered an impact socket over it and it came undone. Phew!

So if your ever thinking of doing similar job, your forewarned. I’ll be ordering a new bolt in the the morning. I’m sure it’ll be a special price, seeing as the workshop manual calls it a special bolt!

Think you were unlucky never had an issue with said bolt, glad you got there in the end
