Getting ally welding done, or not done?!

Hi all, just here to vent my spleen (not that I've got one) a bit about getting some aluminium welding done, a few weeks ago I took a rear caliper bracket to a localish engineer to have a lug welded on to hold a speedo sensor, simple?. Well I had prepared the two pieces ready for welding, showed the man, drew him a picture, "I'll do it this week" great. Three weeks later after various phone calls, "he's just finishing it off today pick it up Monday". Come Monday.... On the wrong side, upsidedown, the wrong way round and the using the wrong measurement! How I wish I could do my own ally welding! Bitza
