Which clutch basket

2 years in and empty pockets, following on from all the work to get the bike right.

Suspension fixed.

Flaking engine paint fixed.

Belts changed.

New tyres.

Remapped.

Steering head bearings and wheel bearings fixed.

Corroded reg/rec wiring fixed.

New friction plates and the quiet mod done, but I'm still getting clatter, when I had the clutch out to do the cases it looked quite badly worn, although I've seen worse. I really don't like the clatter and self destruction that's going on, so it's time for a new basket. Whlist I'd love one of those £2~3k ones it's never going to happen and I'm not buying one from Ducati at £204 +vat, so, what are the recommendations ???

Thanks.

Do you have alloy friction plates or steel?

If alloy there are plenty of decent alloy baskets for around £100.

e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DUCATI-MU...8AAOSwCGVX6XPn

Just be aware that if you’ve been running alloy friction plates in a steel basket, depending on how many miles you’ve done, you may had already given them an unrecoverable beating.

So fitting a new basket may not actually make things much better other than the fact that the clatter of alloy on alloy is a bit quieter than that of steel on steel.

Newfren plates are fine, I've got them in both my Ducatis and the basket I linked to looks good to me - I've used Hdesa parts before and had no problem.

You want a hard anodised basket (usually matt goldish colour), and with the steel reinforcing band to stop it spreading.

They've done about 2.5k and look ok, guess it's a suck it and see thing.
