New PR5 Incoming

Just ordered a new Michelin PR5 as my old rear PR3 is now 10 years old with over 10k on it. I could have squeezed another season out of it but I think I've had my money's worth!

Amazing tyres - do they ever wear out?

There's no better way to start the riding season than with a fresh set of tyres!

Do make sure you shop around though because Michelin have recently introduced the PR6 so there could be some good deals to be found on the previous model.

Apart from the original Dunlop (D207’s or something) the Michelin PR4’s I put on my Monster are the worst I’ve had on it- lots of grip admittedly but steering like treacle and no feel in the wet.

Bring back Pirelli Dragon Evo’s!!!

I've never really got on with Michelin on previous Ducati, well I've noticed the improvement when I switched to Pirelli . Isn't the Angel GT equivalent to the old Dragon these days?

Tyres are such a subjective issue. My monster was originally fitted with race profile Metzeler tyres (forget the exact type) and I didn't like the way it dropped into corners. The profile of the Michelins is much flatter and I like the way it rolls into corners.

The early versions were a bit squirmy under hard braking as the sipes moved around. I found them much better after the PR4 version.

Hi, as I am quite new to motorcycling, wanted to check��. I have a 2014 Monster 821. Original tyres for that model is Pirelli Diablo Rosso, but would Michelin PR be OK to use. As if you go to dealer they only recommend Diablo Rosso, but it's not always the case. Thanks

They’d be fine Ivans, although they may give different feel etc. as others have said, tyres are a very subjective, personal choice, you won’t know if you like them until you try a set.

I've been a PR fan for years (I forget whether it was PR2s or PR3s that I had first). As Secundus (my newer, 9 year old, 696) was still on its original tyres and needed a new front ahead of its MOT last week, I had PR5s fitted at Micheldever last weekend. I get astonishingly good mileage out of tyres (being a lightweight slowcoach) but the PRs also gave me good confidence in wet slimy commuting conditions.

I must say the PR5’s work well on my evo. But on my street triple they tend to slow the steering down a tad. Once I’m at the new tyres stage i think I’m going to go power5’s on the street for definite and maybe also on the evo.

Wondering about these Bridgestone S22’s tho. They are rated very highly.
