Ducati specific Stainless fasteners.

As Photbucket completely ruined my last post on these I thought I’d start a new one and update it with some extra parts.

Over the last couple of years I’ve done a bit of work sourcing or making fasteners and can offer the following.

Early Monster Instrument cluster special bolts.
I machine these myself from a longer bolt, a few people have had them from me and been very happy.

From This:

Using these:

To this:

Or with standard instruments(Inc. my LED Rev Counter mod):

These are £12 a pair including postage, but I only get time to machine them at the weekend, so can’t send any out until the following Monday.

Brembo Master Cylinder Lever pivot sheet metal nuts.
The original mild steel version of these go rusty very quickly, these are in A2 Stainless steel and are a direct replacement.

£6 a pair including postage.

Lock stops
Again these go rusty very quickly, and Ducati appear to use 2 versions on everything from the 90s to almost the present day.

There is a 25mm version and a 30mm version used by Ducati, but the 30mm version s fits the earlier bikes that were originally fitted with the 25mm Version. Shown below fitted to my M900 below. I’ve also used them on my 900SS.
If needed I can cut them down to 25mm before sending, but can only do this at the weekends.

Again these are A2 Stainless steel and are a direct replacement.

Old scabby Steel

To be replaced with these

These are £6 a pair posted.

The LED tacho is vey neatly added there.

Liking the lock stops, at the moment the swollen tank is doing the stopping. Hopefully the new tank will sort that and I'll be after a pair of them. just need a respray first.

That led rev-counter mod is super-neat.

I've already had a pair of the instrument bolts.
I'd like a pair of each of the others though, please.
pm sent.

I'll PM you.

The LED tacho unfortunately didn't stay on the bike very long.
I got it calibrated quite well in the end, was very pleased with myself, then found that despite taking the power feed to it directly from the battery it was very sensitive to the battery voltage.
The revs shown dropped by @30% when I turned the headlight on, then dropped to almost nothing with High beam.
I'm working on something different at the moment.

I've been asked if I can supply the lockstops in the shorter 25mm length so have turned a few down in my lathe.

Here's a few of each. Note they do have the Allen socket in the end to make adjustments.

I've also managed to get a couple of images of the Brembo pivot nuts

Have you also thought about tea tray bolts
The only thing is that the dome head size is bigger than the standard m6 sized one and they also have a bigger key size
I done some in steel but I needed the rear ones 30mm long in thread to fit the fender wings
They were m8 dome head with 5mm Allen key and the thread diameter m6

Standard ones 25mm long but I think 20mm is ok but they don't protrude out and are short in the lower guard inserts

Hi.

They sound like they are worth looking at.

Unfortunately my M900 had already had the back hacked off before I brought it, so I don't have one to copy, but it sounds quite simple from your description.

I'll have a look next weekend and let you know.

They rust easy from underneath and water sits in top and ponds. As to why I think stock are too short. They go into brass inserts but rust up

The Stein Dinse website shows two different lengths.

The ones at the front, nearest the saddle, are marked as M6 x 25mm.

The rearmost ones do not have a size against them, but are a different part number and are visibly longer.

I might order one and see what size the head is to see what I can do.

Would anyone else be interested in these in A2 Stainless?

I would. Don't order them they are small head m6 I bought them thinking they correct head size. The rear are long to fit the optional extra side guards I bought as they need the protruding extra length to mount the top fixing and the second lower fixing goes to a hole in the rear mudguard
They are not necessary but stop more rain to rear and chain grease spray to mudguard.

I'll have some!

Also if you ever get to do those pesky early Brembo 45mm calliper pad pins I'll have a pair as well

Can somebody confirm then please, for the Teatray screws.

There are 2 x 30mm long plus 2 x 25mm long.

All are M6 thread with a Dome head.
But
All have a 5mm Allen socket.
All have a 14mm diameter head – Can somebody measure this please.

The above suggests a standard sized M6 Dome head screw but with an M8 sized head.

The images I’ve found of the latest part numbers actually show a standard sized M6 x 25(or 30)mm Dome head screw without the larger head.
This could be because the part has been replaced with a standard sized screw to make life easier for Ducati.

Unfortunately buying in std M8 screws, and turning them down, and rethreading them to M6 would be laborious with my lathe, so I’ll need to ask somebody I know with a CNC lathe to quote for a batch of say 50pcs.

Have shortened a couple of pairs of Lockstops down to 25mm for people this evening, so they'll be in the post tomorrow.

Has anyone managed to measure any original Teatray bolts?
I think I've found a way for me to take some M8 Dome head bolts back to 6mm quite quickly.
I'd modify the same ones I use to make the Instrument screws.

Yes exactly as I said. Richard 350tss did some in steel but was nervous about stainless but I have the bolts to hand. I ordered longer so to hold say 15 mm in a chuck and just turn off thread to 6.00mm I was then going to hand die the thread myself
